Louis-Justin starts school tomorrow and he’s very excited! I am too! He’ll be in first grade, so that’s serious business. My little guy is growing up so fast… He watched his first “horror” movies with his dad last weekend! (Tremors and Tremors 2) And he told me the cutest thing today! He said that other moms were “gray” but that I was colorful. He’s quite the poet, isn’t he?!
As for me, I’m going back to school on September 9. I’ll be taking 2 university classes this semester, which is more than enough for me at the moment… Hopefully I’ll be able to keep up with everything!
I’ve always loved the month of September. I remember being so excited when it was time to shop for school supplies as a child! I don’t like summer that much, but I love autumn. So I’m definitely looking forward to the change of season. The air is already colder… I love it! Soon it will be time to think about Halloween!
Oh and we have finally decided on a name for our Sphynx kitten! Martin, Louis-Justin and I all agreed on a name so I will reveal the winner of the little contest soon. Hint: the kitty’s name rhymes with Martin and Louis-Justin!
Is anyone else going back to school this fall?
Hello everyone! Today, the interview is published a bit later than usual since I didn’t have a steady connection to the Internet yesterday because of Irene… But even a tropical storm can’t prevent me from introducing you to the current penpal of the week: please meet Meredith from the USA!
Please tell us about you!
My name is Meredith; I am 24 years old, I’m from Wisconsin. I currently work at a national craft store and local hardware store. I live with my fiancee, his name is Sam, he is 26 years old and is working on starting his own business. We are getting married Sept. 15, 2012. I love playing tennis, reading, taking walks, talking to people, making new friends, and going out.
Personal website: Hello From Meredith
Describe your personality in 10 words!
Crazy. Lovely. Funny. Friendly. Kind. Open. Bubbly. Bright. Unique. Unforgettable.

How long have you been penpalling? How did you first start? Tell us about your first penpal!
I have just started penpalling after about a 16 year hiatus. I started during my third grade class. My pal was an elderly woman who I chatted with a few times, then she passed away and I didn’t penpal for quite some time. In Nov. 2010 I joined Swap-bot and joined a swap for new penpals. The rest, as they say, is history!

How many penpals do you have now and where are they from?
I have pals from all over the world. I have a few from the U.S. My favorite one is from Singapore. She is an absolute blast to write to! Plus, she just started working for a theme park so we always have something new to chat about. I used to have a pal from Japan, then after the earthquake we lost contact, unfortunately. One U.S. Pal I have I feel like we just connect. She’s in her 60’s and we talk about everything! Her 22 year old granddaughter just moved in with her, so there’s always something to talk about!

What are your favorite topics to discuss in letters?
I love talking about each other. When I write, it’s not like a Holiday form letter where all you do is talk about yourself. I love referencing back to old letters and asking about how their dog is doing or if they got the big promotion. I love asking questions.
Sam (fiancee) and me! Super Packer fans :)
What are you looking for in a penpal?
I’m looking for someone who will write about themselves and ask questions about me. I also would like to them to be open-minded. I want more than 1 page of letter. Also, proper grammar and spelling are an absolute MUST! And last, but not least, they MUST spell my name correctly!
What do you like the most about penpalling?
I love meeting new people and finding out about how people live their lives differently than I do. I think it is fascinating to be able to get into someone’s day and see what they do for a living and for fun.

In what language(s) do you correspond?
What are some of your habits in regards to letter writing?
My letters are always at least 2 pages long (standard 8.5×11). I feel anything less is just a waste of a stamp. I love to write every couple of weeks. It is about a 1-2 week turn-around for letters as I work about 50-60 hours per week. I love going out and writing in the park or at my favorite coffee shop. When I am relaxed, I am better able to write freely.

Has anything strange/funny ever happened to you since you’ve been penpalling?
I had a pal, she wrote me only 1 letter. It was a form letter typed on the computer. I was really interested in keeping in touch with her as we seemed to have a lot in common. That was until I hit the closing. It said “Sincerely,”… and it was blank. I’m assuming her signature was supposed to go there, but it didn’t. There was nothing… just the closing… oh and no return address. It was truly strange.

Have you met any of your penpals?
I have never met a pal, although I would love to! I have a pal from Canada that sounds absolutely fascinating! Also, my pal from CA would be awesome to meet!
Me on the left, my BF Sarah on the right,
she lives about 3 hours away and I miss her like crazy!
Are you currently looking for more penpals?
I would love to get some more penpals!
Thank you Meredith!
Anyone who would like to be pals with her? :)
