Calling out all weirdos and French writers

Even though Cara in the USA wrote her colorful penpal ad almost 2 months ago, I only received it at the beginning of this month. I’m happy to report that I’m now posting the ads about 2-3 weeks after I get them! That’s quite an improvement, since it used to take me 2 months not so long ago… But as you may have noticed, I spend more time on my blog these days, so I’m able to post a few ads each week instead of just one.

So if you want to send me a penpal ad, you can expect it to be published about a month after you write it. Find more info about how to submit your ad here.

OK so now let me show you what Cara sent!

How many of you dear blog readers consider yourselves weird?

I do! In a good way, of course…

Care Bears

Here’s a penpal ad by Joyce in the USA!

That Care Bear sticker on the envelope reminded me of my childhood. Watching cartoons on Saturday mornings was part of my weekend routine and I miss those days sometimes. I wish I could go back to the 80’s for a few hours! Laura, can you lend me your time machine?!

What were your favorite cartoons / shows as a child? I loved Rainbow Brite, Strawberry Shortcake, the Smurfs, Care Bears, Astro Boy, Demetan, Inspector Gadget, Fraggle Rock, Jem, Belle and Sebastian, Popeye, Punky Brewster, She-Ra… and a few others that I can’t remember I’m sure!

Ah, good old times…

My name is Julie and I'm 37.
I'm French Canadian and fell
in love with an American,
so I'm now living in Vermont
with my wife.

I write letters, I love stationery and I have a handwriting fetish. I often eat sushi, still feel like I'm 16 and only wear skirts & dresses (with colorful tights when it's cold).

I'm happier with a mind full of ideas, a mailbox full of letters from my penpals, a shop full of stationery, a house full of pens and a day full of hugs.

Read my Top 10 Quirks here.

This is me with my wife,
Denise. We met through the
League of Extraordinary
Penpals and are living
happily ever after in the
Stationery Kingdom.

Denise blogs here too and is
the one in charge of the
social media: Facebook,
Twitter and Pinterest.

She's 40 years old,
from South Dakota,
and in love with me, washi
tape & imperial rolls.
