So I wrote to…
Thanks to everyone who replied to my I want to write YOU a letter! post last month!
Like I mentioned previously, I need to be inspired to write an interesting letter, so although everyone who commented seemed really nice, I picked 3 girls who left creative comments and made me laugh. (If you didn’t know, the best way to win me over is to take me out for sushi and/or make me laugh. Gushing over my son is also a good strategy usually.)
So I ended up writing letters to Sofie, Michi and Jessica. (Interesting coincidence that they all submitted a penpal ad recently…) I wanted to write to two or three other people, but I started getting letters from my penpals again and now I need to write back to them. But maybe there will be another “who wants a letter from me” post in the future!
Here are the three letters I sent:
A little something for Sofie in Sweden on vintage stationery (decorated with my new border punch) and a handmade Martine envelope.

A letter for Michi in Poland – I don’t know if you’ve noticed but I’ve been making a lot of envelopes with old children’s books purchased at thrift stores recently…

And a letter to Jessica in the USA on free printable Halloween stationery designed by the lovely Fab! (I used some Halloween stickers to decorate the back of the sheets.)

I didn’t get any mail from my regular penpals for a few weeks and then all of a sudden I received 5 letters at once! So I guess you’ll find me with a pen in my hand in the next few days… Who else will be writing letters this weekend?

love your envelopes :)
Thank you Erica! It’s fun making them!
How excited am I right now?!
Hmmm, very?! :)
Which means that my little letter hasn’t reached you yet I suppose?
Cute envelopes! :) I just wrote a 14 page letter, 10 page letter and two 4 page ones. I’m spending the weekend at a Halloween event in our town with my niece..I will probably dedicate my Sunday to more mail though (or to making more envelopes..I can’t decide)!
I love Bert and Ernie so you can guess I love the envelope with them:D I am writing a letter this weekend too^^
I am officially in love with the first letter you wrote – the stationery, the border punch, the envelope… *swoons*
That’s putting it mildly!
Would it be weird if I just sat at the post office, waiting?
It would probably be weird. :/
I so need a border punch right now! It looks gorgeous *_* And I’m not sure if I’ve said it before but your handwriting is gorgeous as well! Thanks for using my freebies, I’m very glad you’re enjoying them <3 xx Fab
I’ve had an influx of letters to my mailbox this week! Several from my ad here, and several from an ad on the Postcrossing forums. I’ve responded to 4 of them with 4-12 sheet letters, and have 6 more in the wings! It’s fabulous!!
Oooh, your envelopes are so pretty! Interesting fact: ‘Martine’ is called Tiny here in Belgium :) Haha!
Julie, can i ask you how much time it took to write these letters? :)
Wow some lovely mail going out! I have to write several letters myself and get some things together for some Swap-Bot swaps!
I believe the US post offices are backed up for some reason. Maybe this is why you got a influx like that (even though you live in Canada).
Yay for everyone who’s writing letters this weekend!
Jessica: So now that you’ve officially received my letter, are you still sure that you’ll reply? :P
Fab: You’re welcome, and thank YOU for creating such fun printables!
Othella: I’m glad to know that you’ve been receiving replies to your penpal ad from here! :)
Elisse: Seriously, Martine is Tiny in Belgium?! So funny… It’s like Franklin the turtle, my son loved him when he was little but his name here in Québec is Benjamin.
Karolina: I’m rather slow and I tend to write long letters, so I’m not sure how much time I spent on these letters but definitely more than a few hours!
Svetlana: Actually, it’s just a coincidence that my penpals all wrote me at the same time! Most of them aren’t even from the US… It’s often like that though, I don’t receive anything for a while and then all the letters arrive at the same time!
Love your envelopes too. You have inspired me to go buy some childrens’ books at the thrift store so I can make envelopes. My only problem is that I’d probably like the book so much I wouldn’t want to use it for my mail art.
Oh, and thank you for checking out my new mail blog. I appreciate your encouragement.
My pleasure, JarieLyn! And about the books – I can totally relate! However, getting them at only $1 a piece makes me feel less guilty when it’s time to cut them up! :)
Of course I shall write back! Im glad, too, that Im not the only one who writes letters in more then one sitting.
I have to study for an exam this weekend, so no writing here. And I want to write letters as there’s so much to talk about. I guess that will have to wait until next weekend…
