My birthday

Today I’m going to do something that I usually never do…

I’m going to beg!

That’s right, I have a favor to ask and that’s where you come in.

You see, I’m turning 33 on December 12 but I’ll be spending most of the day alone. I usually celebrate with my boyfriend, but this year Martin will be leaving for his intership at 5am and he won’t be coming back until the next day at 8pm. Louis-Justin will be at school, obviously. My mom said that we could go out to eat together, which is nice, but I’ll be spending the night alone, in my big bed, cold and in tears… OK, I might not cry, but I’m pretty sure I’ll feel a little lonely for my birthday this year.

Me and Louis-Justin on my 30th birthday.

So I had an idea. I asked myself what would be a good way to celebrate my birthday all by myself… and I found it! I want to celebrate it with you!

So would you please please please please please (that’s me begging) write me a little letter or send me a card for my birthday? I’m on my knees…

Julie 32

Me turning 32.

I’ll gather all my birthday mail and will only open it on my actual birthday. And I’ll share photos on my blog, of course!

So if you’d like to send me a little something, please write “birthday mail” anywhere on the envelope so that I don’t open it right away. December 12 is in about 3 weeks, so it should leave enough time for letters and cards to reach me.

My dirty mirror and I on my 32nd birthday.

Oh, by the way, I’m not expecting presents so please don’t send any! Just a card or a note would be perfect.

It would seriously make my birthday a lot more enjoyable to read a little something from my online friends & blog readers. Thank you in advance for making me feel a little less lonely!

  1. Incredibly gladly, my dear Julie. It’s been far too long since I sent you mail, in fact. I promise you’ll be seeing those Trinidadian stamps soon. ;) xoxo

  2. Yay, thank you Shivanee! It will be lovely to get mail from you <3

  3. Done! I can’t wait to send you a birthday surprise!

  4. Thanks Michele, I appreciate it!

  5. I’ll be sending you a ..hm something, too, Julie.
This is a special for the both of us <3
I don't expect a lot of mail, so I'll be sending even more :))

  6. Oh man, I just started my own mail blog and totally forgot to put it – unbelievable, isn’t it? :D

  7. Sure thing, Julie! (I miss you!) xo.

  8. Hello there deary!
I was planning to send you something for your birthday anyway!!! :)

  9. Aww! Last year I felt very lonely on my birthday. No one remembered it! And I didn’t get any mail that day.

  10. I’ll try and send you something, it’s really sad to be lonely on your birthday! (Also I LOVE those tights in the last picture, you have the most awesome style!)

  11. Oh, I’ll sure send you a little note. I’m afraid it will be late, though, but I’ll hurry and expect the postal service will be nice to me!

  12. Once I had an “Alone Birthday” and it was so awesome! I treated myself to the movie, then to a nice restaurant and ended it up at home with cake and wine. I love spending ir with friends and family, but there was something completely free and relaxing about having the whole day all by myself. I hope one day I have the chance to do it again. :-D

Do you have any plans? Remember this is the perfect occasion to do all you wanted to do but for some reason you never did it with the others (like going to a park and sit on the grass in silence, or give a shooting range a try or anything that would make people who love you and know you raise an eyebrow and say “I knew you were weird, I just didn’t know you packed that kind of weird too”.) It can be “experiment day” or “yay day”!

  13. I LOVE this idea! A day FILLED with letters sounds LOVELY! ; )

  14. Hi Julie! :) I’m a faithful reader of your blog, and a member of sendsomething, and I hope you don’t mind too much receiving a little gift for your birthday! :) I think you’ll like it, and I couldn’t pass it up! I will be sending it very soon! Take care! :)

  15. Thank you everyone! I already received my first letter! I haven’t cheated though – will only open it on my birthday.

Suze: I don’t have any plans yet but I love your suggestions! I’ll think about something special that I could do on my own…

Georgette: That would be lovely! Gifts are fun – I just didn’t want anyone to feel like they had to send me one! But I’ll be happy to see what you found :)

  16. I was rushing to beat the mail man today and forgot to mark my letter as birthday mail! So when you get a little envelope from me with a bunny on it, don”t open it!! :p I wanted to write you a letter, but I got shy, so it’s more like a little note.. :x

  17. Mayra: Thank you for the warning! Bunny = no right to open until my birthday! ;)

  18. And why did you get shy? Am I intimidating?! Nooooooooo!

  19. What a fantastic idea Julie. I’ll definitely send you something. Although I’m only a newbie at your blog (discovered it yesterday) it’s already one of my favourites :-)

  20. Julie, if I mailed you a card from California on Dec. 5, do you think it would reach you in time for your birthday? I think I should try :-)

  21. Charmaine: Yes, you should definitely try! Sometimes mail from the US reaches me in 5-6 days and sometimes it can take 10 days, so it’s pretty unpredictable! But even if it’s a few days late, birthday mail from you would be appreciated, that’s for sure! :)

I'm happier with a mind full of ideas, a mailbox full of letters from my penpals, a shop full of stationery, a house full of pens and a day full of hugs.
