I Am Washipocalypse

I felt like copying Julie and making a handwritten post. I pretty much think that every little thing she does is perfect, so I want to be like her.

Denise Washi

Before I go, I want to remind you of a few things. I will do this in list form, because I love lists about as much as I love washi tape. You can expect more list posts from me in the future.

1. Remember how I mentioned my superhero status in the League of Extraordinary Penpals? Guess what? You can be a superhero too!

2. Today is the last day to take advantage of our current SOTW sale. Last week we brought back all of previous SOTWs, 1 – 14. This is a great opportunity for you to stock up on a variety of really great stationery!

3. Our Facebook group is exactly 1 month old today and we are really excited about the snail mail & penpal related conversation that’s going on there. Like our page and join us!

4. One of the great ways to show off your creativity and connect with other penpallers around the world is for you to send us your penpal ad OR be featured as Penpal of the Week. We would love to feature you here on the blog.

  1. You don’t like torn washi? :O I tear my washi all the time! I like neat edges too, but I’m such a messy person in general that tearing is more my thing.

  2. Sofie, it’s funny that you should mention this because while I was creating this post Julie and I were talking about my weird washi preferences and I actually told her that you were the one person who can do anything with washi and make it look magical. Your torn washi mailart always looks amazing, I don’t know how you do it, but you have some special washi magical powers.

  3. I usually tear my tape, but if it comes out too raggedy then I’ll trim it. When I make envelopes I use pages from old magazines, but if I use a regular, store-bought one I decorate it with the tape. I actually have a roll of that purple/orange/teal one four strips down! My tape tends to come from Michaels when they have a good sale, but there’s a lot on Etsy that I have saved in my favorites as well.

  4. Like you Denise I generally prefer cut washi to torn & I NEVER wrap around the back! I do occasionally tear though; if I am writing on plain paper I will sometimes run two co-ordinating pieces of washi up from the bottom of the page, torn off at different lengths. Otherwise snip-snip! Most of my washi stash comes from ebay. :)

My name is Julie and I'm 37.
I'm French Canadian and fell
in love with an American,
so I'm now living in Vermont
with my wife.

I write letters, I love stationery and I have a handwriting fetish. I often eat sushi, still feel like I'm 16 and only wear skirts & dresses (with colorful tights when it's cold).

I'm happier with a mind full of ideas, a mailbox full of letters from my penpals, a shop full of stationery, a house full of pens and a day full of hugs.

Read my Top 10 Quirks here.

This is me with my wife,
Denise. We met through the
League of Extraordinary
Penpals and are living
happily ever after in the
Stationery Kingdom.

Denise blogs here too and is
the one in charge of the
social media: Facebook,
Twitter and Pinterest.

She's 40 years old,
from South Dakota,
and in love with me, washi
tape & imperial rolls.
