Weekly Recap

Here in Canada, Thanksgiving is in October. But Julie was quite sick with a cold on October 13, so we were not able to celebrate. Where I’m originally from (in the States), it was Thanksgiving this past Thursday and we decided we would celebrate! I cooked a modest, but traditional American Thanksgiving meal. And we spent some time reflecting on the things we are thankful for.

And now I’m in the mode of putting cranberry on all the things! It has been on pizza, a tuna melt sandwich and some odd leftover open faced sandwich I created. I have a few other sandwich-y plans brewing in my mind. I’m open to new suggestions…

On the Blog:

One of the members from the LEP was featured as our Penpal of the Week on Monday. Sophie is originally from England but now she’s in Canada. She lists “Sophish” as a language she corresponds in and I think you’ll really enjoy reading her entire interview here.

Remember Jason? Well he’s looking for new penpals, so I posted his quirky penpal ad on Tuesday. Maybe you would like to send him a letter?

On Thursday, Julie posted this week’s new SOTW design. If Julie was alive in 1890 she would look like the lovely lady in this design. There are still notepads for sale through Wednesday. (Unless we run out, don’t let that happen before you get yours!)

In keeping with the Thanksgiving tradition, we had a Black Friday sale over at La Papierre. It’s still going on, by the way. The 40% off your entire order coupon code will be valid through the end of Monday. Get all the details about this super sale here!

And that’s our week. Julie and I are about to have dinner and then settle in with a movie. Have you seen About Time before? I have not, but it’s one of Julie’s favorites and I can’t wait to watch it with her.

Let’s do something crazy!

So today is Black Friday, and as you know, a lot of people will be going crazy in the stores this weekend. Because you know, they really want those $20 shoes, and it’s the last pair, so it’s perfectly acceptable to fight someone else for it.

But we’re all civilized here, and of course we wouldn’t do that. I’m still in the mood to do something crazy though, so I thought I’d offer my dear blog readers and customers a 40% coupon to use in my shop in the next 4 days!

Why give as much as 40% off? Because I just have this one bookshelf to store my stationery, and we need to make room for new inventory that will be for sale in early 2015. I asked Denise if we could store stationery in the fridge, and she said no. SO PLEASE HELP US OUT!

Stationery bookshelf

Start shopping at La Papierre right away! Everything is 40% off, which means that you can get letter sets for as low as $4 each, and postcards for $0.30 each! They make great Christmas or birthday presents for penpals.

You need to make sure to enter coupon code THANKS2014 before checking out (with a minimum purchase of $5), because no refund will be sent after you’ve paid. Etsy applies the coupon immediately and the cost will be adjusted automatically. If you’ve never used a coupon code before, Etsy has this very helpful article right here.

Enjoy! Happy Black Friday!

My name is Julie and I'm 37.
I'm French Canadian and fell
in love with an American,
so I'm now living in Vermont
with my wife.

I write letters, I love stationery and I have a handwriting fetish. I often eat sushi, still feel like I'm 16 and only wear skirts & dresses (with colorful tights when it's cold).

I'm happier with a mind full of ideas, a mailbox full of letters from my penpals, a shop full of stationery, a house full of pens and a day full of hugs.

Read my Top 10 Quirks here.

This is me with my wife,
Denise. We met through the
League of Extraordinary
Penpals and are living
happily ever after in the
Stationery Kingdom.

Denise blogs here too and is
the one in charge of the
social media: Facebook,
Twitter and Pinterest.

She's 40 years old,
from South Dakota,
and in love with me, washi
tape & imperial rolls.
