November 17th, 2015

It’s our anniversary, so of course YOU get a present too.

Denise and I paced awkwardly through our home in Québec in our matching purple dresses, just waiting for the time to pass… Until it was suddenly time to put our bulky winter coats on top of those delicate dresses and get in the car.

We said “I do” in front of 4 people that day: my son, our 2 witnesses and the officiant. The morning was cold but sunny, and as soon as we got out of the courthouse, the first snow had started falling, almost magically, just in time to snap a few quick wedding photos, before we began shivering.

Later that day, we hopped in the car and drove north for 3 hours, until we reached Old Québec City. By that time, the snow was falling heavily and the cold was getting to us, so we bought matching hats that stayed on our heads for the rest of our honeymoon.

A year later, November 17 still feels magical to us, but there’s no snow on the ground and we don’t get to spend 3 nights together in a fancy loft. Many things have changed – we live in a different country now – but some things remain. Our love for each other is still unwavering, and we still make some people roll their eyes at us because we might be just a tiny bit too much.

One of our new friends here in Vermont even mentioned that it was kind of scary that we were so open and loving. Well we’ll take that as a compliment! We have so much love to give… not just to each other, but to the world. We want to invite everyone over for dinner, we want to babysit for free, and we want to give everyone a huge stationery discount on our anniversary! That’s the kind of scary, open, loving people we are.

So today we’re going all in… We’re letting you buy anything you want in our Etsy shop at a 50% discount. Everything is half price! We’re sharing the stationery love with you guys today. On our anniversary, we want to make others happy. And since the traditional first year anniversay gift is paper… well there you go.

Obviously, the coupon code you have to enter at checkout is ANNIVERSARY. Please note that the coupon code must be entered at time of checkout, before you pay. No refunds will be sent after an order has been placed. If you need help, please read this article.

Anniversary discount

So if you’d like to get your hands on some La Papierre designs… They’re only $5 each today! Since many of our friends are scattered all over the world (and some of them are already asleep for the night), we’ll deactivate this coupon code tomorrow morning. We want to make sure that as many people as possible have a chance to take advantage of our anniversary present!

While you have fun shopping for stationery, we’ll celebrate by eating sushi. Believe it or not, we haven’t had real sushi yet since moving to the United States. Only cheap, buffet or grocery store style sushi – not as satisfying. So happy anniversary to us… and you!

Are you a photographer?

You are? Wonderful! You love stationery, right? Would you like to work for La Papierre?

I’m looking for a photographer who would be ready to invest a few hours a month in making the La Papierre stationery look spiffy on the SSS website and in the Etsy shop, as well as on different social media platforms.

Do you get excited at the thought of playing with paper and snail mail related accessories, and your goal in life is to achieve the perfect white balance? Then I want to work with you.

To apply, just grab a notepad or a pack of stationery from La Papierre, be creative and take a minimum of 10 different photos to show multiple angles, including at least 2 close-ups. Edit them, resize them to 1500 pixels wide and 1000 pixels wide (horizontal pictures are preferred), and email them to me at by Sunday, November 22.

If you don’t have La Papierre stationery, don’t let that stop you! Just take your favorite writing paper and shoot away! (Please only include sheets and not envelopes.)

So what kind of photos am I looking for? Anything goes, just let your creativity flow,  but I prefer a staged setting to a white background. Here are a few ideas of accessories that could be included with the stationery: washi tape, pens/fountain pens, stickers, postal stamps, rubber stamps, typewriters, mugs, letter openers, was seals, ribbons, etc. Some photos could have handwriting on them, and someone could even be putting pen to paper, caught in the act! You’re the photographer, so you decide.

This is just an example of a staged photo I took, and doesn’t necessarily represent

what I’m looking for. La Papierre stationery is leaning toward a more modern

style lately, so feel free to create a more contemporary atmosphere if you’d like.

If we work together, here’s the fun part: you’ll get paid in stationery! I’ll send you a free pack of SSS each month, and you’ll get option C, which is a $60 value. Six designs will be included, and you’ll receive 24 sheets of each. If you’re not familiar with the SSS, more information can be found on the La Papierre website.

Your job will be to take at least 10 photos of each design, and 10 photos of the six designs together, for a total of 70 photos. You’ll email everything to me, and your lovely pictures will be displayed for the world to see all over the Internet.

On top of that, I’ll occasionally send you another monthly stationery shipment to be photographed (probably between 2 and 6 additional items). Again, you’ll get to keep everything as a form of payment!

On a side note, I really wish I could work a few hours a month and get paid in sushi. Anyone know of any such gigs?! Please point me in the right direction.

Looking forward to some stationery porn in my inbox soon…

My name is Julie and I'm 37.
I'm French Canadian and fell
in love with an American,

with my wife.

I write letters, I love stationery and I have a handwriting fetish. I often eat sushi, still feel like I'm 16 and only wear skirts & dresses (with colorful tights when it's cold).

I'm happier with a mind full of ideas, a mailbox full of letters from my penpals, a shop full of stationery, a house full of pens and a day full of hugs.
