Steffi in Austria

There’s no better time than right now to share a new Quirky Penpal Ad with you! Postcrossing first connected Steffi & I… and now she’s looking for some new penpals!

If you’re interested in exchanging mail with Steffi, you can email her at

Before I close, I wanted to tell you how thankful I am for all of those who have given donations to our immigration journey. We’re almost halfway to our goal… you guys are amazing! We’re still accepting donations, so we’d be especially grateful if you feel led to give and/or share our story.

Joanne in London

To everything (Turn! Turn! Turn!) there is a season (Turn! Turn! Turn!)… I have The Byrds stuck in my head!

There’s definitely a season for everything and currently¬†mine involves a lack of inspiration to write. My poor penpals are not getting replies very quickly. Meanwhile, my wife is a writing machine! She’s cranking out letters and getting them sent off… I think she’s nearly caught up with her reply pile!

I need to go muster up some new inspiration to get back in the groove of writing… but before I do, I want to share this Quirky Penpal Ad with you.

If you’re feeling inspired to write to Joanne, you can send her an email.

What are some tips you can offer for those of us who are in a writing slump? New stationery? Different writing atmosphere?

I’m thinking I will go pick a random member from the League of Extraordinary Penpals database and write a postcard and send it off. Maybe it will be the little nudge I need to¬†give myself a jumpstart back into writing letters again!

My name is Julie and I'm 37.
I'm French Canadian and fell
in love with an American,
so I'm now living in Vermont
with my wife.

I write letters, I love stationery and I have a handwriting fetish. I often eat sushi, still feel like I'm 16 and only wear skirts & dresses (with colorful tights when it's cold).

I'm happier with a mind full of ideas, a mailbox full of letters from my penpals, a shop full of stationery, a house full of pens and a day full of hugs.

Read my Top 10 Quirks here.

This is me with my wife,
Denise. We met through the
League of Extraordinary
Penpals and are living
happily ever after in the
Stationery Kingdom.

Denise blogs here too and is
the one in charge of the
social media: Facebook,
Twitter and Pinterest.

She's 40 years old,
from South Dakota,
and in love with me, washi
tape & imperial rolls.
